Our RV Rentals Experiences!
We travel around a bit, and RV rentals feature very high on our agenda. Because of our work commitments, we often find ourselves stuck in a city over a weekend so we usually head down to the nearest RV rental joint and pick up something suitable for however much time we have off. We learnt long ago that there is nothing worse than being stuck in a strange city over the weekend. There comes a time when you have seen enough city lights, visited enough shopping malls, and you end up sitting in your motel room watching movies and feeling miserable and bored. Well, RV rentals soon put an end to that. You would be surprised just how much sight seeing we can fit in those couple of days. During this past year RV rentals have enabled us to go to the Grand Canyon, Yosemite and Yellowstone National Parks. Generally we would leave after work on Friday, and get back late on Sunday night, and we really felt like we had achieved something. Admittedly it wasn't a long time, but we did the best we could with what we had, and it sure was heaps better than staying in town. Its not until you go out to places like our famous parks, that you realise how many people rely on RV rentals to get them around, particularly the overseas tourists. They have drawn up their own itinerary and are having the best time discovering America. It is such a shame that most of these tourists will be going home with more knowledge about our country than the average American. We are seriously thinking about buying our own RV as soon as we stay in one place long enough. Until then we are trying as many different RV rentals as we can. This has been a fantastic way of taking them for a test-drive, and by the time we are ready to buy we would have driven most of the leading makes which the RV rentals always have. The last thing the rental company needs is their RV rentals breaking down in some backwaters, so most of their vehicles, or at least the ones that we rent are usually always in reasonably good condition. But we do have our favorite RV rentals. Because we are always away from home when we organise our rental RV, we organise what's called a "housekeeping" package. This means that the pots and pans, dishes etc., are packed ready for us. We just have to buy some extra food, pack our clothes and we hit the road. There are plenty of RV dealerships around who have rentals, including the big ones, that is the state-of-the-art, late model Class A's. These RV rentals are not quite in our league, they are too big for a start, but plenty of people like them, particularly those with kids. Even though we don't own our own RV, fellow RV'ers see us in rentals so often that they say we can join their club. We often meet up with the same people and have a good time sharing a coffee or a particularly beautiful scene. They all seem to be such a happy welcoming bunch of people, always with plenty of time to stop for a chat. Even the fellow tourists in RV rentals share the same feelings of camaraderie. Must be something to do with the clean country air. |
