RV Accessories Explained!

Now you have your new motorhome you need all the cool stuff that goes with it, like RV accessories. It is in the realm of RV accessories where you find all those necessary and not so necessary items that are required when you and your RV leave home. Most of these things don't come when you buy your RV. They have to be purchased after and your budget and available space will dictate to a certain extent just how far you go. These are the additions that will add the touches of luxury and comfort of home and make your RV camping experience that much more enjoyable.

Many people think that by going on the road they will have to sacrifice many of the things that they are used to. Not so! Apart from space the Class A's can be outfitted with all the conceivable RV accessories that you could dream of. Certainly all the obvious ones are available for your entertainment, such as flat screen TV's, DVD players, and music centers. In fact these are becoming standard on even the smallest of RV. In the specialized RV accessories store you will soon realise that a good part of the products are all about comfort - yours.

RV accessories can be divided into four main categories: 1. Outdoor - these will include such things as awnings, grills and related accessories, steps and ladders, screens, patio decorations and mats. 2. Interior living - TV & electronics, bedding and furnishings, kitchen appliances and utensils, bathroom and toilet accessories, lighting, travel comforts and games. 3. RV maintenance - electrical and solar power, sanitation and sewerage, freshwater systems, generators, storage, covers, propane, air conditioners, heating and furnaces and GPS. 4. Towing - hitches, jacks and leveling, tires and wheels, truck accessories, mirrors and backup, shocks and stabilizers.

Of course in each of the different categories of RV accessories there will be a huge range of economical as well as luxury items and your limitations are only your imagination, budget and room. Naturally in the smaller RV's the opportunity to carry a huge amount of accessories is quite limited. Many of these will actually tow a small trailer loaded with all the extras that are deemed necessary.

So how do you know which RV accessories are essential? This is going to vary depending on where you will be traveling to and what sort of camping you are doing. If you are going to have to be self sufficient, ie., generating your own power, then your needs are going to be far different to someone who will be staying only at parks using provided hook-up facilities. An awning may not be an essential item for you if you are going to be doing more traveling than camping, or it may at least dictate the type of awning you buy, and so on. Once you determine the nature of your travels then the type of RV accessories that you need will be much clearer. It is very easy to go out fired by enthusiasm and purchase a heap of things that never get used. Buying them gradually as your needs grow should eliminate a build up of never used accessories.
