Motorhome Dealers To The Rescue!

We know that there are literally thousands of motorhome dealers scattered across the United States, so you would think that when you really need to find one in a hurry, there is bound to be one round the next corner. Not so! We had to travel another 300 miles before we could find one that was qualified to fix our electrical problem, and because our motorhome was still under warranty we also had to find an authorised one. There were several other shonky looking dealers that we came across that I wouldn't take my motorhome to in a fit, but finally we got there and it only took the mechanic a couple of hours to find the problem and fix it. That's the beauty of course in being able to find motorhome dealers that are certified to work on your particular type of motorhome.

Most people never give a thought to breaking down or requiring the services of motorhome dealers when they are away. If it does cross their mind, it is fleeting at best, we don't really want to dwell on those sorts of events. But, take my word for it, if you have your journey mapped out then you should take a little bit of extra time locating all the motorhome dealers along the way. Just in case something untoward happens, because you never know if you might need one, and the frustration of trying to locate one miles from nowhere is something that can easily spoil your vacation.

We actually do a web search now before we go away, and even if we don't know our exact route we will make a list of all the motorhome dealers in the state. Of course if you take your computer with you then you can always find the web listings and locate one that way. This is OK for all the big motorhome dealers, but many of the smaller ones are often not listed, so we get their addresses from the Yellow Pages directory. You would be surprised just how many people we have helped on the road. They have either broken down or are sorely in need of some repair work done and they don't know whether to drive back the way they have come or continue to find the nearest one.

I must admit, we thought we knew where all our local motorhome dealers were when we were thinking about buying ours, but it wasn't until we went to one of the big motorhome shows in neighbouring Arkansas that we realised there were lots of dealers around that we hadn't even heard about. The show was great because all the big motorhome dealers were there as well as smaller companies, and we could compare all the different makes and models. If you are thinking about buying your own motorhome then it is well worth your time and money traveling to one of the big shows. They have accessories and supplies for RV'ing that you couldn't even dream about.

If you are lucky and have plenty of motorhome dealers on your back door step then you are always going to be able to get your regular maintenance and servicing done in between trips. This is really important if you plant to take long journeys to more remote places, and are going to be away for long periods of time. But even so, if you go prepared with addresses and contact details of the service people, then at least you can phone for advice.
