What Luxury RV Is All About?

The American tradition has become to own a luxury RV - the one that looks like a tourist coach - all 42 feet of it. It is estimated that the number of households in the US who will own a RV is going to rise to nearly 9 million by the end of 2010. The fastest growing sector of this market though, is the luxury motor homes - the ones that will set you back a cool $200,000 to $1 million. These are the ones with the wood-paneling, queen size waterbed, shower and toilet with gold faucets, interior and exterior entertainment centers, flat-screen televisions, gourmet kitchens with granite counters, washer/dryer, marble floors and leather couches. Now this is my style of camping!

These super luxury RV motorhomes hang out in the super luxury campgrounds which provide second-home communities for the RV'ers where they stay for not just a few days but for months. On site expect to find a golf course, tennis courts, Starbucks, Olympic-size swimming pools, Jacuzzis, live entertainment, plus activities such as astronomy, calligraphy, crafts, painting ......Blame the baby boomers we have been told! They are retiring with plenty of funds and nothing to do. There are even more posh lavish parks that don't open the gates to you unless you carry a pedigree of Class A luxury costing around $1million. These are springing up in the ever sunny spots of Florida and Palm Springs.

Each year, at least another 300 million-dollar super luxury RV motorhomes join this ever-growing market. The average age of the owners is only 54 years and they constitute an elite group of retirees who made their fortunes young, and traded in their hective lifestyle. It is common for their luxury RV to contain enough expandable slideouts and retractable canopies to open up living areas of well over 400 square feet.

In recent years, this new generation of luxury RV has been able to take advantage of all the latest technological sophistication available from the automotive industry, and combine it with the extreme lavishness of decor. This means that these vehicles, once you become accustomed to their size, are as easy to learn to drive as the family car. Specially designed chassis and suspension together with the massive power that comes from their diesel engines means that steep grades and mountain roads are a breeze combined with a super smooth ride. These vehicles are no longer the "clonkers" that jerked around corners, crawled up hills and held up and infuriated traffic.

More and more people in America are trying the RV lifestyle and liking it. It is giving them a chance to spend more time with the family while exploring the country rather than flying over the top of it. Admittedly the super luxury RV style of living is for just a very few, but the enjoyment, sense of adventure and fulfilment that comes from owning a RV is freely available to all. With the many different types of RV's available, most are outfitted for a fraction of the cost of a luxury RV, and yet they can still provide all the necessary comforts of home, and the opportunity for the best vacation experience ever.
